Welcome to Kassie Harras, recently married and moving to Fort Collins this summer from Colorado Springs where she taught kindergarten and most recently first grade for the last six years. She was here on Move Up Day to meet the new students and is so excited to join our staff. She is a loved and adored teacher in Colorado Springs and will be missed. We are lucky to have her!
Next in my series of introducing new staff is David Hitchcock, new fourth grade teacher. Here is his bio: Hello Bethke! My family and I are new Colorado residents. In late September 2014 we sold our home in Northern Virginia, which is a suburb of Washington, D.C., and drove our cars 1800 miles west to our new home in Fort Collins. This move transpired when my wife took a transfer with her employer. While living in Virginia I taught 5th grade for 5 years, one year as a middle school science teacher. I also wrote science curriculum for a year. In addition to teaching I have also been a full time at home Dad. Upon arriving in Fort Collins I was fortunate to find a teaching position at Rice Elementary School. From October to the end of the school year I was a science impact teacher. I taught science to the entire K-5 student population. My wife and I have two sons. The oldest is entering 7th grade and the younger 5th grade. We all enjoy hiking, running, hockey, soccer, kayaking, skiing, and anything outdoors. I am thrilled to join the 4th grade team at Bethke Elementary. I look forward to getting to know the students and parents of this amazing community for many years to come.
Welcome David! We are proud to have you as a bobcat!
Candice Mozer will be a new fourth grade teacher at Bethke in 2015-2016. She is excited to move to Fort Collins after teaching in Cherry Creek the last ten years. She graduated from CSU and got her Masters from Regis. She is originally from North Dakota but has lived in Colorado for over 20 years so considers herself a new native. She loves being with family and friends in the outdoors when she isn't shopping or doing DIY projects! She loves to read nonfiction and realistic fiction and is looking forward to sharing her passion for reading with her students. Welcome Candice!
Over the summer I will highlight the new staff members that will be joining our team in 2015-2016. Today I introduce Bri Schupp, new second grade teacher. Here is a message from her: Hello! I am Bri Schupp, and I'm delighted to join the second grade team at Bethke this year! My family moved to Colorado when I was just one month old so I consider myself a native. I graduated from Colorado University, and have been teaching at Liberty in Fort Collins for the last 12 years. I can not imagine a better place to raise my three funny, witty, music-loving kids. I think teaching is the best job and think it's amazing that I get to spend my days in the classroom doing what I love. Outside of school, I enjoy running, hiking, skiing, traveling, reading, and hanging in the sunshine with my great family and friends.
Stay tuned for updates on the newest staff members at Bethke.
